Rutile is one of the major sources of titanium and it is widely spread in nature. Firstly, rutile is famous for its unusual crystals' shapes. Basically, there are thread-like acicular crystals, which penetrate the other minerals, such as quartz, tourmaline, corundum, and others. Amazing patterns of asterism and cat's eye effects are caused exactly by rutile inclusions in corundum and tourmaline.
