RUTILE

At all times diamonds have been valued for their bright shine. Meanwhile, there is a natural crystal that superiors the "girl's best friend" with its own optical properties.

The champion's name is RUTILE!

Rutile is one of the major sources of titanium and it is widely spread in nature. Firstly, rutile is famous for its unusual crystals' shapes. Basically, there are thread-like acicular crystals, which penetrate the other minerals, such as quartz, tourmaline, corundum, and others. Amazing patterns of asterism and cat's eye effects are caused exactly by rutile inclusions in corundum and tourmaline. Many collectors are proud to own their fancy shapes of intergrown and twinned rutile crystals. As a large single crystal, rutile is found rarely. Gem-quality Rutile is considered to be a museum piece. Furthermore, natural rutile crystals are generally dark-red and contain a lot of iron. That is why cut stones of 0.5-1 carat size look brownish or even black and does not display all the magnificence of their optical properties.

Rutile's main characteristics in comparison to its main competitors on the jewelry market are shown in the table below:

It is obvious that rutile excels in optical properties that determine brilliance of cut stones, so called "fire" - the complex of refraction index and material's dispersion index. As shown in the table, rutile outshines diamond both in R.I. and dispersion. Our champion has a huge advantage over its rivals in the last characteristic - its dispersion is 6 times higher than one of a diamond and 2.7 times higher than one of a moissanite. This index indicates the degree of separation of white light into a color spectrum: the higher dispersion is, the more "fire" and radiance the gemstone will display.

The density of rutile is slightly higher than one of diamond and moissanite. That way cut stones made of our champion will be 20-30% heavier than their main competitors of the same size. Though rutile gives way to diamond, moissanite and cubic zirconia in hardness, it is enough to use rutile as a gemstone. Its hardness is close to 7 on Mohs scale, that corresponds to the hardness of quartz and does not cause any problem when cutting the gem and during everyday use of pieces of jewelry with rutile.

This analysis gives a firm conclusion that if rutile appears on the market in large amounts it would find its target audience.

Previously there have been attempts to grow such a crystal but only expensive laboratory samples were created. Nobody managed to establish mass commercial production of rutile. But RG Crystals has done it! We have our own growing and cutting production of this material. Rutile made by RG Crystals is no different from the natural one in properties and composition. RG Crystals offers cut gemstones of slightly yellowish, bluish and grayish shades, in other words, the colors often found in diamonds. The size of cut stones ranges from the smallest (1mm) to the biggest (15 mm - 20 mm).

As far as the price is concerned, it is significantly lower than the price of popular gemstones with high optical properties, such as moissanite and especially diamond both natural and synthetic.

RG Crystals Company is looking for cooperation with business owners interested in innovative products and unconventional approach. Rutile is the product which provides competitiveness for advancing jewelry business. Unique radiance coupled with attractive price is the very thing that contemporary jewelry market needs.
